Scholarship Details:

The PhD project involves developing wireless implantable micro-coil technology for precise control of neuronal excitability through magnetic stimulation. This research is interdisciplinary, focusing on advancing neuromodulation technologies.

PhD Project Goals:

• Design and model micro-coils
• Develop a wireless system and fabricate micro-coils
• Characterize the effects of magnetic fields
• Conduct experimental testing and validation

Requirements:

• Background: Strong background in biomedical engineering, electromagnetic theories, mathematical modelling, electronic engineering, neuroscience, or materials science.
• Experience: Advantageous if you have experience in microfabrication, wireless power transfer, electrophysiology, or biomedical device development.
• English Language Proficiency: Non-native English speakers must meet the university’s English proficiency requirements.

Duration and Reward:

• Duration: 3.5 years full-time, or pro-rata for part-time study.
• Reward: Covers tuition fees and provides an annual stipend of at least £19,237.
