Scholarship Details
The Mastercard AfOx Scholarship is a collaboration between the University of Oxford and the Mastercard Foundation. The scholarship aims to support 400 young African scholars to pursue taught Master’s degrees at Oxford in programs related to pandemic preparedness and recovery.
Key components include:
- Full Tuition Coverage: All course fees are covered.
- Living Expenses: £19,237 grant for living costs.
- Logistics Support: Includes economy return flight, visa, and Immigration Health Surcharge fees.
- Leadership and Impact Program: Provides training and support for developing leadership skills and impact-driven projects.
- Ubuntu Period of Service: 4-6 months placements in Africa-based organizations post-graduation.

Requirements
To be eligible for the Mastercard AfOx Scholarship:
- Nationality: Must be of African nationality.
- University Application: Apply for a graduate degree at the University of Oxford and indicate interest in AfOx funding.
- Financial Need: Demonstrate financial need.
- Under-Represented Groups: Preference for candidates from under-represented groups, including female scholars, refugees, and disabled scholars.
Note: Submit your application to Oxford and indicate your interest in AfOx funding by the deadline for your chosen course. Review the Application Guide thoroughly and consider submitting your documents at least a week before the course deadline.

- Fee Waivers: The Oxford University Masters application fee of £75 may be waived for low-income countries. Check the fee waiver section or contact afox@ndm.ox.ac.uk if needed.
- Application Fee: If applicable, email afox@ndm.ox.ac.uk before submitting your application for potential support.
- Complete the AfOx Questionnaire: If invited, complete the AfOx Graduate Scholarship questionnaire during the application process.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a virtual interview.
