Programme Goals and Objectives:
The Ireland Fellows Programme aims to achieve several key goals:

Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for the Ireland Fellows Programme – Africa 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Nationality: Be a resident and national of one of the eligible countries listed above.
- Work Experience: Have a minimum of two to three years of substantial and directly relevant work experience related to the proposed programme of study.
- Academic Qualifications: Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited and government-recognised institution, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The degree must have been awarded in 2013 or later. Candidates must not already hold a master’s level qualification or be currently undertaking a master’s programme.
- Programme Commencement: Be applying to commence a new master’s programme in Ireland starting from August 2025 or later.
- Demonstration of Commitment: Demonstrate leadership abilities, a commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their home country, and a desire to build positive relationships with Ireland.
- Programme Selection: Identify and select three master’s programmes from the Directory of Eligible Programmes that align with the applicant’s academic and professional background.
- Language Proficiency: Have a clear understanding of the academic and English language requirements for the chosen programmes. Applicants will need to take an online Duolingo English Test after Stage 2 of the application process and may need to take the IELTS exam if shortlisted.
- Previous Applications: Applicants must not have applied to the Ireland Fellows Programme more than once previously.

Application Process:
The application process for the Ireland Fellows Programme involves three main stages:

- Stage 3: Interviews

- Invited Applications: In some countries (e.g., Angola, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Eritrea, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, Zambia), applications are restricted to staff of government departments and NGOs partnering with Irish Aid. Check with the relevant Embassy of Ireland or your employer to confirm eligibility.
- Financial Coverage: The fellowship covers only the recipient. There is no provision for additional financial support or visas for spouses or dependents.
