2024 Chinese Government Scholarship: China Link Scholarship Program
The China Scholarship Council (CSC) proudly announces the China Link Scholarship Program, designed to foster academic friendship and mutual understanding between Chinese and international students and faculty members. Program Introduction
The China Link Scholarship Program is open to outstanding students and scholars worldwide. Hainan University invites international students and faculty members to apply for this prestigious scholarship to conduct research and academic exchanges in China.
Program Details
Funding Categories:
- General Scholar: Applicable to current undergraduates or master’s students.
- Senior Scholar: Applicable to current Ph.D. students or faculty members.
Duration:
- 1-12 months.
- Start study in China no later than August 31, 2025.
Working Language:
- English or Chinese, depending on the program provided by Hainan University.
Study/Research Fields:
- All disciplines except Chinese language study.

Funding and Benefits
Successful applicants will receive a full scholarship from CSC, which includes:
- Tuition Waiver: Complete coverage of tuition fees.
- Accommodation: Free on-campus accommodation.
- Medical Insurance: Comprehensive medical coverage.
- Monthly Stipend:
- CNY 3,000 for general scholars.
- CNY 3,500 for senior scholars.
Eligibility Criteria
- Citizenship: Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens.
- Health: Must be in good physical and mental health.
- Academic Performance: Should have a strong academic record and good conduct.
- Legal Compliance: Must comply with Chinese laws and university regulations.
- Age Limits:
- Under 45 years old for general scholars.
- Under 50 years old for senior scholars.
- Language Proficiency:
- Chinese-Taught Programs: HSK Band 4 with scores above 180.
- English-Taught Programs: TOEFL score of 560 (paper-based) or 78 (internet-based), or an IELTS score of 6.0.

Application Procedure
Step 1: Online Application
- Complete the online application at CGS Information System.
- Register and log in to your account.
Step 2: Personal Details
- Fill in personal details and save the information.
Step 3: Program Category
- Select “Program Category Type B” and start a new application.
Step 4: Agency Number
- Enter the agency number for Hainan University: 10589.
Step 5: Application Information
- Fill in language proficiency, study plan, and upload supporting documents.
- Submit the application after careful review.
Step 6: Application Review
- If needed, revoke and edit the application before final submission.
Step 7: Print Application Form
- Download and print the application form.
Step 8: Submit to Dispatching Authorities
- Submit the scholarship application as required by the dispatching authorities.
Step 9: University Online Application
- Complete the application on the Hainan University online system: Hainan University Application.
Required Documents
- Application Forms: Complete the forms for the Chinese Government Scholarship and HNU.
- Passport Copy: Valid passport home page.
- Notarized Diplomas and Transcripts: Highest diploma attained, academic transcripts, pre-graduation certificate (if applicable).
- Language Proficiency Proof: Valid HSK, IELTS, or TOEFL certificates.
- Pre-Admission Documents: Official admission letter or invitation letter from a Chinese university.
- Study Plan Proposal: Written in Chinese or English, over 500 characters or words.
- Recommendation Letters: Two letters from professors or associate professors.
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form: Completed in English.
- Non-Criminal Record Report: Issued by the local public security authority.
- Visa or Residence Permit: For those working in China, if applicable.
- CV: Including a publication list if available.
Scholarship Confirmation
- Review Process: Hainan University reviews applications and nominates candidates.
- Final Approval: CSC finalizes admission results.
- Admission Notice: Hainan University emails the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form (JW201) to scholarship winners.
- Registration: As specified in the Letter of Admission.
