Global Excellence Scholarship at The University of Western Australia
The University of Western Australia (UWA) offers the prestigious Global Excellence Scholarship to high-achieving international students. This scholarship is available for both undergraduate and postgraduate students who enroll in specific courses at UWA.
Award Details
The Global Excellence Scholarship is a substantial tuition fee discount for the duration of the recipient’s course. The scholarship value is determined by the applicant’s Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or UWA Weighted Average Mark (WAM).
Undergraduate Scholarships
- Up to AUD$48,000 over 4 years for students commencing eligible courses in 2024.
- Up to AUD$36,000 over 3 years for students commencing eligible courses in 2024.
Postgraduate Scholarships
- Up to AUD$24,000 over 2 years for students commencing eligible courses in 2024.
The final scholarship amount will be assessed by Admissions based on the submission of academic transcripts. Eligibility is determined according to the ATAR/WAM table.

Eligibility
General Eligibility
- Open to students from all countries.
- Must have received an offer for an undergraduate or postgraduate course at UWA.
- Must have achieved an equivalent:
- Minimum ATAR 85.00; or
- Minimum WAM 65.00
- For students in an approved International Academic Pathway (Articulation Program), a WAM equivalent of more than 75.00 is required.
Undergraduate Eligibility
- Must be applying for an eligible undergraduate bachelor degree or Assured Pathway course.
- Exclusions: Assured Pathway to Medicine and Assured Pathway to Dental Medicine.
Postgraduate Eligibility
- Must be applying for an eligible postgraduate degree (by coursework).
- Exclusions: Juris Doctor, Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Dental Medicine, Doctor of Optometry, UWA Micro-credentials.

Combined Bachelor’s and Combined Bachelor’s & Master’s (CBM) Eligibility
- All Combined Bachelor’s and Combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees are eligible.
- Specific degrees like Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce; and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Science, which are over 5 years, can receive up to AUD$60,000 over 5 years.

Undergraduate 2024
- ATAR 98.00+: Maximum scholarship value.
- ATAR 90.00 – 97.95: Mid-tier scholarship value.
- ATAR 85.00 – 89.95: Base-tier scholarship value.
Postgraduate 2024
- WAM 85.00+: Maximum scholarship value.
- WAM 75.00 – 84.99: Mid-tier scholarship value.
- WAM 65.00 – 74.99: Base-tier scholarship value.
