THE GLOBAL SCHOLARSHIP AT KENT STATE: BRINGING YOUR DREAMS CLOSER
For the international student with aspirations of studying in the United States, Kent State University presents the Global Scholarship, making a Kent State education “A Whole Lot Closer Than You Think!”
Kent State recognizes the value of diversity within its student body and strives to foster a rich multicultural environment on its campuses. As part of this commitment, the university aims to attract exceptional international students by offering the Global Scholarship to incoming undergraduate degree-seeking students.
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS & ELIGIBILITY:
Starting from Fall 2023, the Global Scholarship is open to all incoming international undergraduate students at Kent State’s main campus who hold an F1 visa. Whether you’re a first-year student or a transfer student, if you’re pursuing your undergraduate degree, you’re eligible to apply.
For ESL-only students and visiting students, a scholarship of $4,300 per year is available provided they enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
The application process for the Global Scholarship couldn’t be simpler. All eligible students will automatically be considered for the scholarship upon admission to Kent State University. So, don’t wait – submit your application now to be in the running!

APPLICATION DEADLINES:
To be considered for the Global Scholarship, make sure to meet the following admission deadlines:
- July 1st for Fall semester (starting in August)
- November 1st for Spring semester (beginning in January)
- March 1st for Summer semester (commencing in May)
HONORS SCHOLARSHIP:
For new freshmen, there’s an additional opportunity to apply for the Honors Scholarship. To be considered, you must be invited to apply to the Honors College and submit your application by the following dates:
- December 1st for Spring semester
- January 15th for Fall semester
SCHOLARSHIP TIERS:
The Global Scholarship rewards academic excellence, with varying amounts based on high school or college GPA (on a scale of 4.0). Here’s a breakdown:
- GPA 3.70+: $15,000 (plus $2,000 for Honors Scholarship, if applicable)
- GPA 3.6 – 3.69: $12,000
- GPA 3.5 – 3.59: $10,000
- GPA 3.49 and below: $7,000
ESL-only students and visiting students receive $4,300/year, provided they maintain a minimum of 12 credit hours.
SCHOLARSHIP RENEWAL:
Students awarded the Global Scholarship can breathe easy knowing that it’s renewable for up to eight semesters for first-year students and transfer students, depending on the number of credits transferred to Kent State. To ensure automatic renewal each year, recipients simply need to maintain full-time, in-person enrollment at Kent State’s Kent campus and uphold good academic standing as defined in the university catalog.
