Scholarship: Arqus Talent Scholarship Fund- Arqus European University Alliance [9 Partner Universities]- (Deadline: June 30)
Objective: The Arqus Talent Scholarship aims to attract and retain exceptional postgraduate talent from around the world. This scholarship supports students pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral degree at one of the Arqus partner universities and includes a mandatory mobility period at a second Arqus partner University.

Benefits:
- Subsistence Allowance: €1,400.00/month to cover living costs, medical insurance, and materials.
- Tuition Fees: Full coverage at the entrance university.
- Special Needs Fund: Additional €250/month for eligible students (e.g., refugees, students with disabilities, students with caring responsibilities).
Conditions of the Scholarship
Composition:
- Living Costs Allowance: €1,400.00/month.
- Special Needs Fund: €250/month for students who meet specific criteria, such as refugees, students with caring responsibilities, students with disabilities or chronic diseases.
- Tuition Fee Coverage: Full coverage at the entrance university.
Duration:
- Master’s Students: Maximum 12, 18, or 24 months, depending on the program duration.
- Doctoral Students: Maximum 36 months.
Eligibility for State Scholarship Holders: Applicants receiving state scholarships can apply, but must disclose the source of their state funding.
Non-combinable with Other EU-funded Scholarships: This fund cannot be combined with other EU-funded scholarships.
Application Process
Calls for Applications:
- First Call: Doctoral students only, from 31 March 2023 to 31 May 2023.
- Second Call: Master’s students only, from 3 May 2023 to 3 July 2023.
- Third Call: Master’s students only, from 2 April 2024 to 30 June 2024.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must apply or be selected for a Master’s or Doctoral programme at one of the Arqus universities with a minimum grade of B according to the ECTS grading system.
- Not currently enrolled in the relevant programme (exceptions: first-year doctoral students at Vilnius University and the University of Wroclaw).
- Plan for compulsory mobility and active participation as an Arqus Ambassador detailed in the motivation statement.
- Language proficiency at level B2 or higher in one of the languages of the Alliance.
Required Documents:
- Confirmation of Application: Official confirmation that you have applied or been selected for a Master’s or Doctoral programme at one of the Arqus universities.
- Motivation Statement: Up to 4,000 characters detailing your motivation, compulsory mobility plan, and role as an Arqus Ambassador.
- PhD Research Proposal: (Doctoral students only) Upload your research proposal.
- BA/MA Diploma/Degree Certificate: Upload the certificate for the degree used to apply for admission.
- Transcript of Records: Upload the transcript of records for the degree used to apply for admission.
- Letter of Recommendation: Upload a signed recommendation letter from an academic from your previous degree programme.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): Include practical experiences and extra-curricular activities.
- Passport: Copy of the ID page with your photograph.
- Special Needs Confirmation: (If applicable) Documentation supporting your eligibility for the special needs fund.
- Language Certificate: Proof of language proficiency (B2 or higher) in one of the Arqus languages.
Selection Criteria
Priority Groups (0 to 1 point):
- Refugees/asylum seekers.
- Students with fewer opportunities.
- Applicants with a degree not obtained at the Arqus university where they will undertake their studies.
Academic Performance (0 to 3 points): Evaluation of GPA and overall academic performance.
Academic Background (0 to 3 points): Previous training and qualifications in relevant areas of knowledge.
Motivation (0 to 2 points): Evaluation of the motivation statement, including the compulsory mobility plan and participation in Arqus initiatives.
Recommendation Letter (0 to 1 point): Supportive content and relevance.
CV (0 to 2 points): Practical experiences and extra-curricular activities.
Language Proficiency and Field of Study (merit): Proficiency in one of the Arqus languages (B2 or higher) and relevance to the focus areas of the Alliance, such as Climate Change, AI, or European Identity.

Selection Procedure
Stage 1: Eligibility Check. Stage 2: Joint Selection & Ranking by a committee of academics from the Arqus Alliance.
Results Publication: Results will be published on the Arqus website, listing the name, nationality, and average score of selected candidates by the end of July 2024.
Appeals Process: Available from the date of publication until the beginning of September. Appeals will be reviewed by the Selection Committee.
Additional Information
Grant Agreement: All selected students must sign a Grant Agreement detailing the conditions of the scholarship.
Orientation Session: An online orientation session will be organized for successful applicants in September, providing information about the compulsory mobility and the Arqus Ambassadors programme.
Payments: Paid per semester, contingent on confirmation of enrolment and academic performance (for Master’s students) or progress report (for doctoral students). Tuition fees will be reimbursed directly to the student upon submission of payment confirmation.
Active Participation: Scholars are required to participate in Arqus activities and act as Arqus Ambassadors within their two Arqus universities.
