Introduction:

The Atlantic Dialogues Emerging Leaders Program (ADEL) is a prestigious initiative organized by the Policy Center for the New South (PCNS), aimed at fostering dialogue, collaboration, and leadership development among young professionals from around the Atlantic basin. Held annually in conjunction with the Atlantic Dialogues Conference, the ADEL program provides a platform for emerging leaders to exchange ideas, engage in meaningful discussions, and contribute to shaping the regional and global agenda.

Program Objectives:

The primary objectives of the Atlantic Dialogues Emerging Leaders Program include:

  1. Leadership Development: Providing young professionals with opportunities to enhance their leadership skills and capabilities.

Program Overview

The 2024 edition of the ADEL program will mark its 11th iteration and will take place from December 8th to 12th in Rabat, Morocco. Following the ADEL program, participants will have the unique opportunity to join the Atlantic Dialogues Conference from December 12th to 14th, where they will interact with influential leaders from various sectors and regions.

Program Components:

The ADEL program consists of several components designed to provide participants with a comprehensive learning experience:

  1. Workshops and Training Sessions: Interactive workshops and training sessions covering topics such as leadership development, policy analysis, advocacy, and project management.
  2. Panel Discussions: Engaging panel discussions featuring experts and thought leaders discussing key issues facing the Atlantic basin, including governance, economic development, climate change, and social inclusion.
  3. Networking Events: Opportunities for participants to network with peers, mentors, and established leaders from various sectors and regions.
  4. Project Work: Collaborative projects aimed at addressing specific challenges or opportunities in the Atlantic basin, allowing participants to apply their skills and knowledge in a practical setting.

Benefits for Selected Participants:

  1. Airfare: The Policy Center for the New South (PCNS) will cover economy class airfare for all selected participants to and from Morocco. This includes the cost of round-trip flights from the participants’ home countries to Rabat, Morocco, where the Atlantic Dialogues Emerging Leaders Program (ADEL) will be held. The airfare coverage ensures that participants can attend the program without bearing the financial burden of international travel expenses.
  2. Local Transportation: Participants will benefit from the coverage of local transportation expenses throughout the duration of the ADEL program and the Atlantic Dialogues Conference. This includes transportation to and from the airport upon arrival and departure, as well as transportation between the accommodation and the venue of program activities. By providing this benefit, PCNS ensures that participants have convenient and reliable transportation options to navigate Rabat and attend program-related events.
  3. Accommodation: The PCNS will arrange hotel accommodation for all selected participants for the duration of the ADEL program and the Atlantic Dialogues Conference. Participants will be provided with comfortable and secure lodging in close proximity to the program venue, ensuring convenience and accessibility. The accommodation arrangements aim to create a conducive environment for learning, networking, and collaboration among participants throughout their stay in Rabat.
  4. Catering: Meals will be provided for participants during the ADEL program and the Atlantic Dialogues Conference. This includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as refreshments during breaks and networking sessions. The catering services aim to ensure that participants are well-nourished and energized throughout the program, allowing them to fully engage in workshops, discussions, and networking opportunities. By providing meals, PCNS seeks to enhance the overall experience of participants and facilitate their focus on the program content and activities.

Participant Criteria:

To be eligible for the ADEL program, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Age Requirement: Applicants must be between the ages of twenty-five and thirty-five (inclusive) as of May 3rd, 2024.
  2. Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of countries located in Africa, North America, South America, Central America, Europe, or the Caribbean. Priority will be given to citizens of countries bordering the Atlantic Basin.
  3. Proficiency in English: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English in their personal statement and short video submission.
  4. Availability: Applicants must guarantee their availability for the full duration of the program, from December 8th to 16th, in Rabat, Morocco.

Application Process:

Interested applicants must complete an online application form by Sunday, June 16th, at 11:59 pm Moroccan time (GMT+1). The application should include the following materials:

  1. Resume/CV: A copy of the applicant’s resume or curriculum vitae, not exceeding 2 pages in PDF format.
  2. Personal Statement: A statement of no more than 250 words detailing the applicant’s motivations for applying to the program, prospective contributions to and benefits from the ADEL program, and expertise or field of work.
  3. YouTube Video: A one-minute video (set to private) addressing specific prompts, including self-introduction, motivations for work, reasons for applying to the ADEL program, and planned contributions and benefits from the program.
