Overview:

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) is offering an exciting internship opportunity for students or recent graduates interested in gaining experience in reporting, data analysis, and statistics. Under the supervision of the Ombudsman, the intern will support the Office in analyzing anonymized data, drafting policy documents, and researching and drafting reports. This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the management and resolution of internal workplace conflicts informally, while gaining valuable experience in a multicultural UN agency setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing anonymized data and statistics on the users of the Office’s services to understand and improve the working environment at UNRWA by reducing internal conflict.
  • Identifying and improving methods of data collection within confidentiality limitations.
  • Advising on data collection and presentation methods.
  • Researching and drafting policy documents and standard operating procedures related to data management.
  • Researching, collating, and drafting reports on the work of the Office, including the annual report.
  • Presenting findings to colleagues in a creative and engaging manner.
  • Updating the intranet site as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Special Skills:

  • Education: Applicants must be students enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate school program or the final academic year of a first university degree program in public administration, international politics, psychology, law, statistics, data management, conflict resolution, or related field.
  • Work Experience: Prior professional work experience is not required but may be advantageous. Excellent IT skills are required.
  • Languages: Excellent command of spoken and written English. Knowledge of Arabic is an asset.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Specialization in statistics or data management.
  • Experience in report writing and/or policy drafting.
  • Advanced IT skills, including the ability to produce engaging reports and presentations using data.
