  1. UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Communications and Events Internship

Duties and Responsibilities: The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is at the forefront of global environmental advocacy, setting the agenda for sustainable development worldwide. The UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a partnership between UNEP and the global financial sector, aiming to promote sustainable finance. As an intern, you will be involved in various aspects of UNEP FI’s communication and events strategy, contributing to raising awareness and integrating sustainable finance into global financial practices. Your tasks may include:

  • Assisting in writing, editing, and designing communication content such as newsletters, social media posts, event announcements, and web content.
  • Managing the UNEP FI website, ensuring day-to-day updates and content development.
  • Supporting social media outreach and proposing larger social media campaigns, including video editing skills if available.
  • Coordinating day-to-day events and assisting in organizing virtual events and webinars to advance sustainable finance globally.
  • Contributing to the rollout of new digital tools and the development of best practice guidelines.
  • Monitoring media, web, and social media analytics, presenting findings, and formulating actionable insights.

Qualifications/Special Skills: To be eligible for this internship, you must meet one of the following criteria: a. Enrolled in a graduate school program or equivalent. b. Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program or equivalent. c. Have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within one year of graduation.

You should be a last-year undergraduate or recent graduate in fields such as communications, journalism, environmental studies, development studies, economics, business administration, finance, or related fields, preferably with some experience in communications.

Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is required for this internship. Knowledge of another UN language is desirable, especially French.

2. Internship – Administrative Assistant, APAC

Duties and Responsibilities: As an Administrative Assistant intern at the Regional Office of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Bangkok, you will be responsible for supporting the Administrative Unit in various office and general administration tasks. Your duties may include:

  • Providing administrative support to the Administration Unit in day-to-day office and general administration tasks.
  • Retrieving and dispatching emails, messages, and correspondence to various offices, States/Administrations, and Headquarters.
  • Assisting in organizing and coordinating logistical arrangements for meetings/events held at the Duty Station.
  • Supporting the setup of meeting rooms and conference services, including table arrangements and audio/visual equipment.
  • Coordinating with suppliers for the procurement of goods as required.
  • Assisting in collecting information for preparation of reports, presentations, and other documents.
  • Supporting the filing of correspondences and documents for the Regional Office.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

  • Education: Candidates should have completed or be enrolled in a university degree program related to aviation, business administration, management, language, marketing, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Work Experience: Some experience in office administration is desirable.
  • Languages: Fluent in English. Knowledge of a second language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable. Knowledge of Thai (local language of the duty station) would be considered an asset.

Additional Information:

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by ICAO. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by the intern.
  • The duration of the internship is six months, with the possibility of renewal subject to the requirement.
  • Interns are expected to work five days a week on a full-time basis.
  • Interns shall not be eligible for any other form of employment within ICAO during the internship period or for six months following the end of their internship.

Duties and Responsibilities: As an intern with the Principles for Sustainable Insurance initiative (PSI) at the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), you will be involved in various tasks related to sustainable insurance. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting communication with insurance members and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting in programme management, including initiatives such as Net-Zero Insurance, the V20 Sustainable Insurance Facility, and the Insurance SDGs initiative.
  • Organizing events, both logistically and in terms of content.
  • Conducting research on sustainable insurance topics.
  • Keeping the PSI web presence up to date.
  • Participating in meetings and calls with insurance members, experts, and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting with other relevant tasks.
  • Working on topics of personal interest within the realm of sustainable insurance.

Qualifications/special skills:

  • Candidates must meet one of the following criteria: enrolled in a graduate school programme, enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program, or have graduated with a university degree within the past year.
  • Relevant experience and studies in finance, insurance, economics, sustainable development, communications, environmental sciences, and/or international relations/affairs.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN Language is desirable.
