Background: The UNICEF Office of Innovation (OOI) is a newly established office with its main headquarters in Stockholm and hub offices in Helsinki, Copenhagen, Geneva, and Barcelona. The Innovative Finance Hub, based in Helsinki, is dedicated to mobilizing global capital to support children and bridge the financing gap needed to achieve the SDGs. Role Description: As part of the Innovative Finance Hub team, the Programme Support Interns will play a crucial role in supporting key initiatives aimed at integrating children’s rights into global investment practices. Reporting to the Programme Specialist and the Senior Analyst, Innovative Finance, interns will be involved in a range of activities, including:

Research and Analysis:

  1. Conducting desktop research on sustainable finance frameworks to gain insights into current practices and trends.
  2. Consolidating databases containing contacts and pipeline partners relevant to innovative finance initiatives.
  3. Providing dedicated research support by delving deep into specific areas related to child-lens investing, such as identifying public and private equity investors and understanding regulatory frameworks.

Internal Support:

  1. Assisting the project manager by providing targeted support on various aspects of child-lens investing and innovative finance.
  2. Collaborating in the development of briefing notes and presentations tailored for senior
  3. Communications: Coordinating with the IF Hub Communications team to ensure alignment of messaging and timely external outreach.

Team Overall Support:

  1. Providing assistance across a diverse range of projects within the IF Hub, addressing tasks related to innovative finance initiatives as required.
  2. Contributing to the overall success of the team by offering support directly or indirectly, based on project needs.

Expected Deliverables: Interns will be expected to deliver the following:

  1. Compiling a comprehensive report detailing the activities supported throughout the 6-month internship period. This report will encompass internal support tasks, communications-related activities, and other support functions as agreed upon with the supervisor.
  2. Developing and presenting relevant materials, including briefing notes, presentations, and research findings, in alignment with project objectives and timelines. These deliverables will serve to enhance internal collaboration and external communication efforts within the IF Hub.
  3. Presentation materials, analysis reports, and communication support as requested by the team.
  4. Research briefs on sustainable finance frameworks and a database of contacts and partners.
  5. Other support functions as agreed upon with supervisors.

Essential Requirements: To qualify for the internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree programme, or have graduated within the past two years, in Finance, Business Administration, International Development, or a related field.
  2. Previous work experience, including internships, in the finance and/or sustainable finance field is desirable.
  3. Demonstrated interest in sustainable finance or related fields, with a solid understanding of financial concepts.
  4. Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  5. Ability to work effectively in inter-divisional teams and manage projects independently.
  6. Fluency in English is required, with proficiency in other UN languages considered an asset.

Conditions: Interns must meet the following conditions:

  1. Be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Demonstrate good academic performance as evidenced by recent university records.
  3. Have no immediate relatives working in any UNICEF office.
  4. Provide proof of medical insurance covering the internship period.
  5. Provide their own laptop for work purposes.
  6. Receive a monthly stipend (unless already supported by a third party).
  7. Fund their own travel and living expenses.
  8. Arrange any necessary visa or immigration requirements.
