2024 RESILIANCE FELLOWSHIP- GLOBAL INITIATIVE’s RESILIANCE FUND
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the fifth edition of the Resilience Fellowship facilitated by the Global Initiative (Established by the government of Norway and also supported by the governments of Germany, Netherlands and New Zealand). This is an esteemed initiative aimed at fostering cross-sectoral collaboration to confront the pervasive impacts of organized crime worldwide. As a flagship program of the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC), the Resilience Fellowship serves as a catalyst for innovative solutions and collective action, bringing together a diverse array of stakeholders to tackle complex challenges.
Empowering Changemakers to Drive Positive Change:
At the heart of the Resilience Fellowship lies a commitment to empowering individuals and organizations working on the frontlines of the fight against organized crime. With the generous support of the government of Norway, alongside contributions from Germany, the Netherlands, and New Zealand, the Fellowship operates under the auspices of the Resilience Fund. This fund, established with a mission to counter the scourge of criminal governance and violence, provides vital resources and support to civil society actors, activists, journalists, artists, scholars, policymakers, and grassroots leaders.

Over the years, the Resilience Fellowship has spearheaded a series of groundbreaking projects that have made tangible contributions to communities worldwide. From addressing disappearances and extortion to combating environmental crime and upholding human rights, the Fellowship has consistently championed initiatives that promote resilience and drive positive change.
2024 Theme: Fragility and Resilience
In its fifth iteration, the Fellowship turns its focus to the critical intersection of fragility and resilience, particularly within conflict-affected regions. The latest findings from the Global Organized Crime Index underscore the heightened vulnerability of conflict zones to the influence of organized crime. Against this backdrop, the 2024 Fellowship seeks to empower individuals and organizations working in fragile environments to build resilience and counter the insidious effects of criminality.
Key Objectives and Support Mechanisms:
The 2024 Resilience Fellowship will provide comprehensive support to ten Fellows selected from diverse backgrounds and contexts. Through a multifaceted approach encompassing grants, capacity building, and networking opportunities, the Fellowship aims to:
- Grants: Each Fellow will receive a grant of US$15,000 to implement community projects aimed at bolstering resilience and countering organized crime. These grants are designed to address the financial constraints faced by individuals operating in fragile contexts, ensuring that resources reach those most in need.
- Capacity Building: Fellows will benefit from a tailored training and mentoring program, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the complex challenges posed by criminal economies and security risks.
- Networking and Collaboration: The Fellowship will facilitate networking opportunities and collaboration through Resilience Dialogues and the Resilience Fund Community Platform, fostering interdisciplinary cooperation and amplifying the impact of Fellows’ initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria and Application Process:
The Fellowship welcomes applications from individuals across various sectors, including journalism, activism, academia, and human rights advocacy. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to addressing organized crime in conflict-affected communities and possess proficiency in English, Spanish, or French.
Interested candidates can apply through the online form, showcasing their background and experience in tackling fragility contexts. Applications will be evaluated based on contextual relevance, problem identification, solution feasibility, and capacity to build community resilience.
