The Polish National Commission for UNESCO, in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology, and Engineering at the AGH University of Krakow (Poland), is thrilled to announce thirty (30) fellowships for individuals like you. About the Programme

The UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Fellowships aim to promote human resource capacities in developing countries while fostering international understanding and friendship among nations and peoples. Beneficiaries of these fellowships will have the privilege to engage in cutting-edge research in the fields of Science, Technology, and Engineering, enhancing their expertise and contributing to global knowledge exchange.

Eligibility Criteria and Invited Member States

Before diving into the application process, it’s essential to ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria and that your country is among the invited Member States. Here’s a breakdown of the invited Member States:

  • Africa: 31 Member States
  • Arab States: 1 Member State
  • Asia and the Pacific: 28 Member States
  • Latin America and the Caribbean: 14 Member States

Duration and Place of Fellowship Study

The fellowship program will span 6 months and will take place at the prestigious AGH University of Krakow, UNESCO AGH Chair. The university provides a conducive environment for research and innovation, fostering academic excellence and collaboration.

Qualifications Required

Candidates interested in applying for the fellowships should carefully review Annex III for specific criteria and qualifications required for each field of research and project. It’s important to note that some fields of research and projects have eligibility restrictions based on the candidate’s region of origin. Refer to Annex IV for detailed information.

Application Process – Step by Step Guide

To ensure a smooth application process, follow these steps diligently:

Step 1: Review Annex II (Terms and Conditions) and Annex III (List of fields of researches & projects and their respective criteria) to understand the application requirements and procedures.

Step 2: Contact the National Commission for UNESCO of your country to inquire about the application procedures at the national level. Find the contact information of the National Commissions for UNESCO here.

Step 3: Prepare your application, including the following supporting documents:

  • UNESCO fellowships application form (complete in English using capital letters)
  • Copy of the applicant’s identity photo
  • Certified copies (in English) of Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree/PhD obtained
  • UNESCO certificate of language knowledge (if applicable)
  • Two letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with the candidate’s work

Step 4: Submit your application with all supporting documents to the National Commission for UNESCO of your country.

Step 5: Once endorsed and nominated by the National Commission, submit your application by email to agh.poland@unesco.org by Friday, 10 May 2024, 12pm Paris time.

Submission and Selection of Candidates

Only applications endorsed by the National Commissions for UNESCO will be considered. The National Commissions of invited Member States will select qualified candidates and transmit their applications to UNESCO by the deadline. Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

Visa Requirements

Fellows are responsible for securing their entry visa to Poland. Polish Embassies or Consulates exist in some countries, while in others, visas must be obtained through the nearest Embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Poland.
