Tianjin Government Scholarship is open- Study in China- 2024

I. Introduction

The Tianjin Government Scholarship is now open for all international students looking to excel in their Master’s and PhD studies in 2024.

II. Application Schedule

October 15, 2023- May 31, 2024

III. Eligibility

1. Citizenship: Applicants must hold citizenship from a country other than the People’s Republic of China and must be in good health.
2. Degree and Age Requirements:
   • Master’s Degree Applicants: Must hold a Bachelor’s diploma and be under the age of 35.
   • PhD Degree Applicants: Must hold a Master’s diploma and be under the age of 40.
3. Language Proficiency Requirements:
   • Chinese-instructed Programs:
     • HSK-5 Certificates: Applicants must submit HSK-5 certificates with a minimum score of 180. Native Chinese speakers and those who have completed undergraduate/master studies in Chinese may be exempt from providing HSK certificates.
   • English-instructed Programs:
     • English Proficiency Certificates: TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.0 is mandatory. Native English speakers may be exempt from providing relevant certificates. Applicants who have completed undergraduate/master studies in English can submit a Certificate of Undergraduate Study in English as an alternative.
     • English MBA Program: Minimum requirement is TOEFL 85 or IELTS 6.5.
4. Conduct and Health: Applicants should demonstrate good conduct, good physical and mental health, and willingness to abide by the laws and regulations of China and Tianjin University.

V. Application Materials

Applicants are required to upload the following documents to the application system:

1. Scanned Copy of Highest Diploma (Pre-graduation Certificate if applicable).
2. Scan of notarized copy of academic transcripts.
3. Photocopy of passport (ordinary passport with valid period).
4. Tianjin Government Scholarship Application Form (2024 Fall TGS Application Form).
5. Chinese or English Proficiency Certificate.
6. Study Experience Resume (uninterrupted education history, starting from senior middle school).
7. Study or Research Plan (at least 800 characters, in Chinese or English).
8. Two Recommendation Letters in English or Chinese from professors or associate professors.
9. Acceptance Letter from TJU Supervisor (if applicable).
10. Physical Examination Record for Foreigners (completed after October 2023).
11. Scan of Photocopy of Visa and Transfer Certificate (for applicants currently in China).
12. Scan of Non-Criminal Record or Student Performance Letter.
13. Financial Statement (Bank deposit certificate or work income certificate of financial guarantor).
14. Other Attachments: Published papers, acceptance notification, relevant certificates, E-work Collection, Video Presentation (for School of Architecture applicants), etc.

Application Remarks

Applicants must submit scanned images of all required documents at the time of application. All uploaded documents should be in either Chinese or English; otherwise, notarial translations in Chinese or English are required. Once translated, the original documents and certified translations must be submitted together to the application system.

Please scan the original or notarized application documents in color using a scanner. Images captured by mobile phones or cameras are not acceptable. Copies are also not acceptable.

TJU reserves the right to request applicants to provide the original or notarized hard copies of application documents for further qualification checks if the uploaded documents are insufficient. Applicants must guarantee that all information and application documents submitted are authentic and accurate; otherwise, they will be disqualified from admission.

VI. Admission Procedures

1. Application Period: October 15, 2023 – May 31, 2024
2. TJU and Tianjin Government Review: June 1, 2024 – June 30, 2024
3. Result Release: Tianjin University will officially announce the admission results on the website and post Admission Notices and Visa Application Forms for Study in China (JW202) to scholarship winners from July 1 to August 31.
