The Emérita Sixto Lugo Scholarship (ESL) at Linnaeus University honors the legacy of Jeronimo’s grandmother, Emérita Sixto Lugo, and aims to support Mexican international students pursuing studies at Linnaeus University in Växjö, Sweden.

Overview:

The ESL Scholarship is intended to encourage Mexican international students to enrich their academic experience in Sweden and foster cultural exchange between Sweden and Mexico. The scholarship provides financial assistance to facilitate the beginning of the semester abroad, enabling students to immerse themselves in Swedish culture and academia.

The application period for the ESL Scholarship is currently closed. Further information will be provided soon on the Linnaeus University website.

Application Requirements:

Applicants must submit the following documents:

1. Motivational letter (maximum 1,500 words) addressing specific questions related to academic and professional goals, expectations from interdisciplinary and intercultural collaboration, innovative ideas for utilizing the opportunity to study in Sweden, and academic achievements.
2. Transcript of records from the last attended higher education institution.

Criteria for Eligibility:

To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must meet the following conditions:

1. Be a Mexican national.
2. Have ongoing or previous studies at a Mexican university or other higher education institution in Mexico.
3. Have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 7.0 (Mexican higher education institution) or its equivalent from higher education institutions in other countries.
4. Be officially nominated for exchange studies at Linnaeus University or enrolled as an independent applicant (freemover/fee-paying student).
5. Be enrolled in a full-time program or courses at Linnaeus University’s campus in Växjö, focusing on subjects such as business studies, marketing, management, economics, engineering, or design.
6. Accept the conditions regarding the evaluation and selection process, including the final selection made by Jeronimo (JOC).
7. Provide necessary documentation and information for scholarship evaluation and recipient selection.

Selection Criteria:

The selection process for the ESL Scholarship is based on the following criteria:

1. Motivational letter content and quality, addressing specific questions (0-15 points).
2. Grade Point Average (GPA) from the last attended higher education institution (0-10 points).
3. Level of studies at Linnaeus University (advanced/master’s level preferred) (up to 10 points).
4. Type of study/exchange program (priority given to ISEP-exchange or ISEP direct applicants) (up to 10 points).

Applicants are evaluated based on their academic achievements, motivation, and potential to contribute to interdisciplinary and intercultural collaboration.
